February 23, 2002

QOD

"Microsoft was inexcusably predatory; Netscape was inexcusably stupid"

- Charles Ferguson, founder of Vermeer Technologies which created FrontPage and eventually sold his company to Microsoft from his book "High Stakes, No Prisoners"

Due Today

We're barreling toward the end of our term, and I'll be checking your milestones:

The homework is worth 5 points, and your site/AOS milestones are worth 5 points.

When reviewing your work, I'll give you the total points you have for the class.

Due Mar 2

This is a hard deadline folks... I need to see your AOS slides for your presentation by next Saturday. You can either 1) meet with me and show them to me, or 2) post them on your w: drive and email me where to look for them.

This milestone is worth 3 points, and I must review your slides by noon Saturday for you to collect the points.

Next Time, Our Last Class

We will do two things on our last class together:

Email me if you have any questions on these guys.

Lecture Today

3 things:

  1. Scanner demo - I'll demonstrate usage of the scanner in our lab, and how to get "nice" images scanned and into your pages... this got pushed back from last time.
  2. Squeezing FrontPage demo - I'll squeeze a few more features out of FrontPage, including Dynamic HTML, themes and CSS, quick 'n dirty web pages for things likes slides, and publishing.
  3. Special topics survey: covering topics like: Java, CGI, XML, FTP, etc

Lab Today

I will visit with everyone and talk about your progress on all fronts: homework/lab units, web site, and AOS.

The homework due next class is to complete Units I, J and P so you can work on that today in the lab.
