Active Server Pages (ASP's) are Microsoft's answer to CGI programs. ASP's are web pages that are built in conjunction with software running on the server.
ASP's are tuned to work most closely with Microsoft products like Access, their database program.
VBScript is a scripting language, like JavaScript, that is based on Visual Basic.
VBScript is often used in conjunction with ASP's to interact with the server when creating a page.
