Chapter 8 "E-R Diagram" Homework

Created: Oct 3, 2007

Create E-R Diagrams as data models for the following scenarios.

Please use our book's "crow's feet" style in anticipation of using that style on the midterm exam.

good luck... yow, bill

1. Cinemark Seven Bridges

I love that Cinemark Seven Bridges movie theater. If you were to create a data model for their movie schedules for all the Cinemark theaters, what would it look like. Off the top of my head:

  • Cinemas (like Seven Bridges) have many theaters
  • Each theater has many showings of a movie during the week
  • Each movie has zero or more showings
Again, this is just a start... be creative! But not too big!

2. North Central College

Create a context data model for doing fun university things like:

  • Student schedules
  • Professor schedules
  • Professor pay
  • Grades
Remember, a context model is just entities and relationships. Think high-level on this one.

3. One of your use cases

Create a data model for one of the use case diagrams that you did in the Chapter 7 homework.
