Wrap things up

Well, that's a wrap. Paragraphs are exhausting, and I'm lazy, so...list me up!

  • First and foremost, thanks everyone for the positivity this season.
  • Next spring, we'll vote on a return to the head-to-head format. I'll bet a dollar we'll be rolling weekly H2H games in 2022.
  • Only two teams held first place: Killer Rabbit led for 10 of the first 11 weeks. Then, Bexar crushed the competition and held first place for the last 13 weeks. That's (check my math) the entire last half of the season.
  • We had 3-4 dominant teams this year, and there wasn't a lot of dramatic movement in the standings from week to week. I don't think this is an inherent attribute of the roto style. I'm (sort of) helping a guy in another roto league that had crazy volatility. I think the answer is we just had some incredibly strong teams in 2021...Bexar, Beard, Killer Rabbit, KGG.
  • I love the different strategies each team had.
    • Bexar had an amazing draft (picking 11th, btw) from #1 pick Freddie Freeman all the way down to round 18 and Freddy Peralta.
    • The Beard rocked by scouring the scrap heap for talent: J Polanco (#20 in Yahoo), Au Riley (#29), Joey Votto (#67), etc.
    • The Killer Rabbit employed a pitching quality strategy. It worked until it didn't...pitching is a cruel mistress. (cha!)
    • And KGG had probably the best free agent pick ever, Shohei Ohtani (the batter) who ended the year as Yahoo #3.
  • Top 3 bopping teams: 1) Bexar (55/56 points), 2) Noto Beard (52), 3) Killer Rabbit (46).
  • Top 3 pitching teams: 1) KGG and Naperville tied (62/70 points), 3) Bexar (58.5).
