Some Draft Help

Here's my handy Draft Sheet. Print this out and fill 'er up as you draft. If you come to The Castle, I'll have copies. This is a must have for every drafter.

LetsPlay3 2018 Draft Sheet (pdf)

I used to post some lists here. I think that's unnecessary here in 2018. You can google "fantasy baseball rankings" or "fantasy baseball cheat sheet" just as easily as I can.

That said, two sites standout:

  • www.fantasypros.com/mlb - This is the site that I use most. They provide consensus rankings and projections that are the compilation from many sites. That's a tasty meatball.
  • www.razzball.com - This is one of the funniest sites on the web... useful too, especially during the season. Bow to the Razz! Kust cayin'.

LetsPlay3 is a little different from the standard 5x5 head-to-head leagues in one aspect. We use Total Bases, not Batting Average. This means that sluggers are potentially more valuable in LetsPlay3 than they are in most leagues/lists.

My only advice to newbies and oldies alike is the same every year. Your best chance to win is to do something different. Take an approach that no one else does. Take a risk. For example, draft as many Cubs players as you can. Draft only young players. Draft hitters first, then pitchers. Draft players with beards. Whatever your choice, it gives you a better chance than blindly picking directly from an ESPN or Yahoo list.

thanks... yow, bill

1971 Thurman Munson - Great rookie card. Action shot!
Topps' 1971 baseball card set with the all-black background were the coolest ever.
Thurman was an All-Star for 6 years in a row and won the AL MVP in 1976. Thurman died on Aug 2, 1979 in a plane crash. He was only 32 yo.
